Mondays, beginning June 29-August 24, 6-6:45 PM. 8 weeks. No session on 7/6. Concludes with final concert for family and friends, time & date to be determined.

For students who are complete beginners and interested in learning how to play the violin, viola, cello or bass. The group will learn how to hold and play the instrument, read music and perform as an ensemble. Orchestra Expressions Book 1 is required.
Upon hearing student perform, Instructor may place student in a class that is more suitable.
Attendance: Class attendance is imperative for a successful final concert. However, conflicts are sometimes unavoidable, so each student is allowed TWO excused absences. The Instructor has the right to dismiss a student from participating in the final concert if the student has more than two absences; however, the student can continue to attend classes.
Please bring your book and/or music, instrument and a folding stand to class.
Instructor: Ms. Hsin-Ting Feng is currently the founding Orchestra Director at the Highland Park Public Schools in Highland Park, NJ. She has an extensive background in both conducting and performing music. She has taught elementary to high school students as well as adults. Her High School Orchestra has performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center. She also was on the NJ All-State Orchestra Committee. For two years, she was the Intermediate Orchestra Chairperson of Central Jersey Music Educators Association. In 2004-5, she was the conductor and coach of the New Jersey Youth Symphony.
Education: Bachelor of Music Degree with Distinction in Music Education on Piano and Violin, Eastman School of Music, 1998. Master of Music Degree in Music Education, Eastman School of Music, 2004.
